So, I think I am going to try and do a pictograph that involves admission statistics for Clemson university. Just men vs. women percentage, overall applicants, etc. I am not completely sure how I want to actually go about making this pictograph. However, I would like to involve something Clemson related as well as something to specify the genders admitted. I think I will probably just do my work in Word, but I may try a little more design aspect with it and perhaps try to do some stuff in InDesign.

I have childhood memories of sitting in the scary room waiting on the dentist to come in. I remember the signs in the room with dinosaurs teaching you how to brush your teeth…and other ones intended to scare kids into taking care of their teeth. I want to create one of these signs of my own. Right now, I intend to create a poster-like sign that warns kids and/or parents against certain habits that harm teeth. This can be humorous and informative.

Project 3: CAFLS Pictograms

I hold a graduate assistantship in the Department of Food, Nutrition, and Packaging Sciences here at Clemson as a writer and content manager for the website. The department is part of CAFLS (The College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences). In my position, I've created bookmarks and brochures that capture the brand of the Food, Nutrition, and Packaging Sciences department, often assembling a collage of pictures to show the various subject areas in the department.

Project 3: Water Safety Pictogram (CU Sailing Club)

Tag: project 3
My project focuses on making a humorous pictogram that is useful for helping members of the sailing club remember to practice safety on the water.
I chose this because I have been in the sailing club for some time and as former safety officer I see the need for some additional safety mindedness in the clubs’ culture.
Specifically, I hope to convey that cold water can be very dangerous and to wear lifejackets when winter rules are in effect.

Ironic Form

By on

For this project I'd like to create a "meta-form" making obvious, extremely annoying, mistakes in form design to get across to anyone looking at the things that shouldn't be done/commonly are done.

Things like making line spacing so small that writing in blanks is virtually impossible, contradictory information.

For project 3, I have decided to create a pictogram/sign that will show the importance of turning off the lights when you leave a room. I work at an electric company and this sign could be placed here. This sign could also be placed in dorms and classrooms around campus. I am hoping to have a picture of a light switch and portray the theme of 'flipping the switch'. I want to show that it saves money and maybe the environment. Any suggestions would be great!

Proteins - Project three

By on

I've decided the food pyramid revision will involve doing a lot of research, so I've decided to make a sign or poster displaying different sources of protein. In the US we tend to think of protein being found only in meat. However, grains, fruits, and vegetables also contain protein. So, I'd like to make a sign showing different sources of protein.
