Audience Affects

How does writing (and/or designing) for a public audience affect what you say, how you think about your work and what difference it might make?
When writing sad
for an audience, you tend to write leaning towards what you think your audience wants to read, The difference it makes it that you may write very differently according to who you are writing for. For example, I would write a very different short story for my brother versus writing for my English Professor. The type of words used would be different, the length and depth would all be very different. Writing for an audience s

Preparing a Book

"What's hard about preparing a book for distribution to a wider audience along all the channels they describe in Chapter 12?"
Barrier to entry may be low, but creating a book that looks professional and is indistinguishable from a book published by a "real" publishing house is very difficult and requires a minimum investment of a few thousand dollars. It's hard to get everything just right (if you're a novice at book formatting, Microsoft Word will become your worst enemy). And once you've finally received that final proof, you feel it could be slightly better.

Before and after the internet

I want to focus on a few lines from the reading. "Before the Internet came along, most people rarely wrote anything at all for pleasure or intellectual satisfaction after graduating from high school or college." pg48. It is very hard for people from our day an age to grasp how little people wrote before the internet. Now however there are scores of writings of all types from blogs, to books, to articles. So much that its hard to imagine how it all came about just from introducing the internet into our daily lives.

This design I found on a large note pad done by a student. I just found it very interesting to see what students doodle while in class so I believed this design was worth sharing.

This is a beautiful homemade valentines card. I love the obvious time it took the person to sew on the lace and cut out glitter hearts. They even have glued on velvet roses with gold writing. I believed this design was very pretty.

Self publishing

From the APE book . I believe that chapter 3 is very important. "The Self -Publishing Revolution" to me, is very applicable, especially for me. Its lays out all of the step sin a simple easy to follow many. It gives many pros, then explains the. It follows that up with the cons and explains those all well. I am writing my own book and need to start looking into publishing and if I want to publish my own book or not.
It made it seem so easy that even a baby could do it.

How we try to capture memory

As I was reading, We, The Memorious, I started to contemplate my own childhood. Unlike the family in the book, my parents did not capture my first step on film. My first words were not recorded, and in fact not even remembered. This made me think about my family and all of the memories I've shared with them throughout my life. I wish I could remember them all with pristine clarity, just like the few moments I caught on camera.
For example my little brother Robert, who is very photogenic.

My little brother has grown up right in front of my eyes and the memories just keep piling up.
