1) Interpreting languages: My parents came to the United States when I was a baby and they were in their late 30's and early 40's. This meant that while I came to learn English, they had difficulty speaking English. So I was always called on to interpret English to them and Vietnamese to other people when my parents had difficulty communicating with others.

2) Operating equipment: I've spent many years in a laboratory environment and have learned how to use several laboratory equipment used in chemical and biological experiments.

With constant access to the internet and a multitude of different social media sites available it can be difficult to keep everything in line. While trying to summarize my digital identity I egosurfed for my name on Google, the results were surprising. While performing a web search of myself i found that the top links were too my Facebook page, Twitter and Instagram accounts.

My Digital Identity

There used to be this idea throughout society that there is a disconnect between what you do in everyday "real" life and what you do online. Nowadays, as our culture shifts towards a more digital era, the online world is able to change how people network. It is important to look at one's digital identity and manage their ethos in a professional manner to make the best use of digital networking.

enduring long hours- As a server I've worked 50 hours a week at some points and at other times I've had multiple jobs at a time, including a few summers ago when I was serving, working at Master Title, and interning for Allen Tate all while taking two online classes.

finding information- At Master Title I often had to search many databases through records dating as far back as 1900 to find property titles. It was imperative that I found the correct title because property sales and sometimes court cases relied upon the research I did.

Today's world has shifted from print materials to mostly electronic. The use of social media and other electronic life sharing devices is changing the world in how we get jobs and how others view us even if the only thing they know about us is our facebook profile. When I look at my online presence, I see my instagram account filled with memories of friends and family and trips and vacations to different places around the country and the world. Linkedin is my most professional social media site by far.

The Digital Identity

In today's world, what people do online is just as important as what they do offline. I do not have a very large online presence. I have a few social media accounts including a Facebook, a Twitter, and a LinkedIn profile, but I am not active at all. My Facebook and LinkedIn accounts sit idle and I use Twitter to keep up with current events even though I rarely post anything. The main interactions I have on twitter is sharing stuff I find with close friends. For my personal accounts I use my middle name, which is what my friends call me and I use my legal name for LinkedIn.
