Document reasearch

My documentation project is about how to use Adobe Illustrator to create a company logo. I have never used any Adobe products before or any type of computer design or photo doctoring tool. So this was an entire new experience for me and i had to do quite a bit of research before starting this project. So I Googled how to make a logo with Adobe Illustrator and I was presented with a plethora of links to sites and videos of people explaining how to use Adobe Illustrator.

I have been looking around at a few tutorials, and googling what adobe Illustrator can do. I have found out how to do most of the basics. Such as how to initially set up your desired paper type and how to create a grid system for that page, the different arrow tools to use. How to use the hand tool. How to create your initial image or shape in Illustrator. How to color your image and give flare to the color or image its self.

To begin my research on adobe illustrator, I started with adobe's website itself. I skimmed around and found many videos and tutorials on the many things you can do with illustrator including logos, sketches, typography, icons, complex illustrations, and much more. Since I am focusing on how a logo can build the brand of a company, I will discuss a few of the features I learned when creating a logo. A few of the main components of a logo include shapes, text, and color. There are a lot of tools that can be use to create and edit the shapes that make up a logo.

There are many new tools I learned about in Indesign that could be useful in building a resume. One of these tools allow you to add editorial notes. This source shows how to add these notes: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/adding-editorial-notes-indesign.html. Adding editorial notes in Indesign is a very useful tool for designing resumes in Indesign. This allows for people to proofread the resume as an Indesign document and add comments directly.

There have been many times that a picture I have taken has that one small imperfection that is too noticeable to avoid. I would like to begin my project with a few small hacks that show the process of fixing these imperfections. After rummaging through a couple sites, I came up with a list of hacks that will be helpful to know including removing shiny spots from a persons skin, sculpting a face and removing stray hairs. I have found that these are pretty simple so I will put them at the beginning of my project as a beginners step.

Adobe Muse Research

Through Adobe's help website, I learned all of the basic functions of Adobe Muse. For example I can now start a new website, plan the basic structure of that website, create a master page, add elements to the master page, use widgets within the app, add text, images, slide shows, and other media, create interactive elements, and publish the site. I also learned about responsive design- that is designing a website that responds according to the screen size of the end user. In other words, you can design a page that looks different to someone on a desktop than someone on a smartphone.

After browsing the web and several of my textbooks from former graphics textbooks, I have learned a lot about the implementation of the 5 principles of design. I have also learned about the purpose of each principle and how better to apply them in various situations.

1. Rhythm
Design elements that convey motion. Theses elements are used in conjunction with emphasis in order to draw the readers eye to major parts of the piece.

Acrobat Research

I have looked up many different websites regarding the use of Acrobat and I learned a ton of things I didn't already know. I have been using pdfs all through my professional career and I thought there wasn't too much more to them. I've always known how to navigate a pdf as well as sign my name or add information. I didn't know that you can make them interactive, though. You are able to add things such as clips of sound, video, or even 3D models! There are such things as 3D pdfs which changes everything in regards to showing other people work that I have modeled in a 3D software.

Photo Effects Research

In researching my topic of "5 Cool Photo Effects Using Adobe Photoshop", I tried to find cool effects that I felt our class would be interested in learning about, and that would be somewhat simple. Going into this class, I had a vast array of Photoshop knowledge, but I tend to only use the same effects in all of my images. This project is helping me branch out, and explore other opportunities. I first started by searching for cool photo effects. This led me to a large selection of effects, so I started to sift through all of them and pick which ones I wanted to highlight in this project.
