Good books have been edited. It’s that simple. So if you plan to self-publish your book or start your own indi-publishing company, you need to have the resources to ensure that your book(s) are professionally edited. There are two types of editing.

If you have the updated version of Adobe Acrobat (currently Adobe Acrobat Pro DC) on your computer, then using bookmarks is a simple and efficient way for self-publishers to mark their own work, and for publishers to locate places they need to return to during the editing process.  PDF bookmarks also enable readers to easily return to a previous page.

For publishers and authors, the copyright page holds valuable information you should know and be able to interpret. Traditionally, the copyright page is the “second side of the first page of the book” and often contain the copyright notice, edition information, publication information, printing history, cataloging data, legal notices, and the ISBN. Authors can attribute credit to designers, production, editing, and/or illustration on this page as well.

Dev Team Project Log 3/24/2016

The project has changed formats from a print publication to a website/blog. For this week, we needed to discuss what the dev team’s new role will be now that this new format has been selected. As we see it, the following responsibilities will be maintained by the dev team:

1) We will continue to consider and suggest new topics for discussion and challenges

2) To continue to develop the different focus areas for all site content

3) To continue to liaise with Dr. Blakesley to solidify the new direction of the project and create a game plan for execution.

Marketing Team - Project Log 3/24

The marketing strategy is still pretty much the same as before. These are the poinst we discussed today:

  • Create separate accounts for twitter and pinterest
  • Social Media accounts can be built into the website and set up to push posts through when made
  • First, create an email to associate with the accounts (TBD later)
  • In the meantime, promo video!

They should be positioned on the bottom of the back cover (often on the right) of all books. Paperbacks may have a barcode on the inner front cover.
